Option 3: Split Navigation:
Split navigation means that you’re designing a site to have both horizontal and vertical navigation items. Often, the main navigation pieces will be oriented horizontally, and then the secondary navigation or a specialized category of navigation items will be laid out vertically.
This offers some of the best of both vertical and horizontal navigation. You get the upscale look of horizontal navigation, and the expandable nature of vertical navigation. You can even only include the vertical navigation on the inner pages of the website – which gives you more space on the home page for additional copy or photos.
But, this type of navigation can be a bit confusing for some website visitors – this style is somewhat new, and some people don’t know how to use this type of navigation.
